We checked out this relatively recently developed sector, and came away really impressed. A great mix of climbing across the grades, routes all clearly labelled at the bottom, on immaculate prickly rock. With the handy labels and the list in ukc, the absence of a guidebook didn’t seem to be a problem. Having been lulled into a false sense of confidence on a soft touch 7a I decided to throw myself at an amenable looking 7b+. Imagine my surprise to find myself clipping the belay chain 10 minutes later! It seemed too good to be true, and later Web search yielded a topo suggesting I’d reached a situ chain clip about 10ft below the actual lower off. Humph 😦 Anyway, back at our slightly bizarre campsite, we at least got to watch a spectacular sunset from our ‘roof terrace’ whilst enjoying a beer. Life ain’t so bad after all! |
