The landscape is dominated by the Karst escarpment, which runs for over 50km from Italy through Slovenia and into Croatia.

In the picture below you can see the village of Osp on the left, overlooked by the Osp crags, and further right the smaller cirque of Misja Pec. Further right still the escarpment become Crni Kal above the village of the same name, which is also home to the fantastically graceful Crni Kal viaduct.
