We’ve camped in some odd and spectacular places, but the campsite in Naples was certainly one of the more unusual. It’s in the crater of a Volcano. …
… complete with sulfur spewing vent holes and scorching pools. All very reminiscent of Yellowstone National Park, but with an Italian twist including a notable lack of safety barriers!
Naples represented the southern most extent of our travels, and we decided to head back north, so the next stop was back in The Eternal City, and specifically a chance to visit the Vatican.
St Peter’s Basilica really is a quite spectacular construction….

Another 312 steps up some crazy staircases lead to the top of the Cupola and stunning views of the city.
