Somewhat overshadowed by its more famous neighbours, Vilanova de Prades offers about a kilometre of fine pocketed climbing above a very accommodating campsite. Aretes, grooves and corners feature heavily (much more to my liking than the bulges in Margalef) and the best of the routes are every bit as good.
Added to this, we had the place to ourselves, and the rock shows no signs of over use. A grand day was celebrated with a menu del dia in the campsite bar, where a rowdy crew gathered to cheer the 5 – 1 dismantling of Saville by local favourites Barca. About £12 each for a 3 course meal and a drinkable bottle of vino Tinto 🙂
