We bumped into a young German climber – Henning, on holiday with his heavily pregnant partner and their 2 year old daughter. Not surprisingly he was desperate to get some routes done at this climbing Mecca, so we invited him to team up with us for the day. Where better for a first day’s introduction to Pembroke than Huntsmans Leap.
I was quite pleased to lead Quiet Waters and then Jake did Scorched Earth / Just another Day. This is a fabulous combo and probably the best route in the Leap I’ve done. Steady for E5 and almost worth adding to my ticklist.
Then Henning made short work of Shape Up for his first trad lead on a sea cliff…
…before we headed over 100m to do Star Wars as a warm down. Pleased to say that Jake didn’t make it look too easy, having watched my ascent about 5 years previous. Magic route
