We awoke to a steady fluttering of snow and a half inch dusting of white across the campground and surrounding desert. Snow in the desert? Well Santa Fe is at 7,000ft.
Clearly time to head lower so we drove the hour or so down hill to Albuquerque to check out the Petroglyph National Monument, taking the opportunity to check out some of the locations from the Netflix series Breaking Bad, culminating with lunch at Los Pollos Hermanos (or Twisters in real life), the HQ for quietly unassuming drug baron Gus Fraine.
The action takes place in and around Albuquerque, with the back drop to the series being the Sandia Mountains which tower a mile above the city.
On to the Petroglyphs – Ancient Puebloan people decorated thousands of volcanic boulders with drawings of animals, people and signs.
