A change of scene and yet more zigzags, as we head up into the Alps Maratimes proper. The Vesubie gorge makes for a spectacular drive and brought us to an idyllic camping a la ferm. This is just beneath the interestingly named crag of the Trou du Diablo, or Devil’s Arse. …

Anyway, we’ll explore that tomorrow – today is a climbing rest day so we went for a wander up the valley at Le Boreon to explore the scene from one of Helen’s happy holiday memories of 35 years ago.
