Col de Fenestre

A gorgeous day, and having exhausted all of the nearby quality crags – or rather been exhausted by them, we decided to explore the mountains.

The 5 mile, 2000ft walk up to the Col de Fenestre was doubly attractive as it takes in some great scenery and also allows you to set foot into Italy, as it lies on the border.

We thought it might be a bit snowy, but not quite this snowy!

…luckily my fell running shoes have quite spiky soles!

Anyway, the views over into Italy were well worth the effort.

  1. Hi We are coming from NZ and plan to pass through the Col de Fenestre in May en route to Cunio. Any advice on whether its passable in May? We won’t have crampons or ice axes

    • Hi Dermot. I’ve only been the once, but that was in May, so I think you’re in with a decent chance! We just had approach shoes / walking boots.
