Back in Blighty, and a Blog Backlog

Back home in time for the summer, and we managed to catch a day of it before the monsoon season set in. A glorious afternoon with Mike and Heidi at Stanage was a reminder of just how good summer climbing in the peak can be.

Picking Jake up the next day from Newcastle, and we popped into Kilnsey on the way home, just in time for the mother of all thunderstorms. Big lightening show with accompanying cacophony. Luckily it has a built-in umbrella! Jake made a steady lead of Central Wall, which proved beyond me, but the highlightof the day was passing a duck nest 30ft up Directisima – surely the strangest bird encounter on a climb?
