No, NOT The Aiguille d’Argentiere, but this diminutive and shapely near namesake gives a fun micro summit in absolutely fabulous surroundings. The Aiguillette can be found about an hour’s pleasant walk along the Lac Blanc trail, above Argentiere and towards the eastern end of the Aiguilles Rouges. It’s certainly very photogenic. Here’s the view from the approach path
We did a route on the sunny, slabby south face: Bip-Bip. Worth more than the single star awarded by Rockfax especially if you press on above the designated lower-off for the “jump” (or more likely step) across the chimney to reach the actual summit
Here’s Helen on the summit with the spectacular backdrop of Grand Montets
We then switched sides and did a bunch of routes on the Cheserys slabs – a couple of pitches behind the Aiguille itself
… and then another few further right around Voie de L’EMHM where we bumped into this impressively horned Ibex
Then down to the Chamonix microbrewery for a tasting rack with spectacular views of Mt Blanc and The Midi
