Not just a 70s electropop band… but also another 4* limestone crag in the Allgau (though this one is actually a couple of miles into Austria). It’s another impressive chunk of rock largely disguised by tree cover, hidden on the hillside above the eponymous power station
Unless someone told you, or you spotted the discreet sign, you’d never know it was there.
It’s easy to appreciate why the guidebook authors have opted for line drawings rather than photo topos – there’s no way to get a decent crag shot, though the photo below gives an impression.
Helen had picked up a muscle niggle in her leg, so was mostly on belay bunny duty – they’d even named a route in anticipation:
We also did Playboy Bunny, 7, and Familienweg, 6, in the vicinity.
The bulk of the routes are tougher, and I had a good battle with…
… which tackled a bulge followed by a steeply overhanging flake / corner line before some final moves up a headwall. An impressive sounding 7+/8- only translates to 6c/+ but I’ve done much easier 7as.
Finished off with Im Gras and that was all I had left in my arms!
