Rockaroundtheworld doesn’t do adverts – but I do make an occasional exception in a very good cause…
Just to prove that I occasionally do something other than climb, here’s news of the latest Charity Calendar I’ve helped pull together. This year’s calendar, in aid of Climbers Against Cancer, has just arrived back from the printers and it’s another visual feast! Featuring over 50 Rucksack Club members, either in front of or behind the lens, it’s a great reflection of a year in the life of The Club. Almost every photo is taken from the equivalent month of the previous year (with a few exceptions, mostly due to Lockdown restrictions) and feature the whole gamut of Club activities. There are members in action on crags, hills and mountains; climbing, mountaineering, bouldering, fell-running; kayaking and paddle-boarding amongst other things. From the Matterhorn to the Old Man of Stoer; from E9 limestone to VDiff seacliff; and running the Joss Naylor Challenge to a snowy walk with the dog! A huge thank you to everyone who contributed photos this year.
There’s something for everybody, and the best thing is that thanks to the generosity of The Rucksack Club and some of its individual members, every penny of the purchase price will go to support Climbers Against Cancer in funding research around the world. That’s right – think of it as making a £10 charity donation and getting a free calendar! Get one for the kitchen wall, and a spare for the study, and don’t forget a few for stocking-fillers!
Through the worldwide climbing community, CAC aims to increase awareness and raise funds for research in the continued fight against a disease that affects so many. Climbers Against Cancer is a non-profit organisation, with all proceeds donated directly to cancer research facilities throughout the world. CAC is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year. Last year, with your support, the calendar raised over £3,000 for Urban Uprising – let’s see if we can go even further for CAC this time!
The calendar is available online directly from the CAC Shop and from Climb-Europe and will also be on sale at local climbing walls, including Awesome Walls and Parthian Climbing Centres. Get yours now 🙂
If you don’t need a calendar – how about making a donation anyway:
