Omis lies a couple of hours south of Paklenica, and 20km south of Split. The river Cetina has carved a deep gorge through rock barriers, into the sea, making the perfect harbour – guarded by towering cliffs and the occasional fortifications.
Having provided sanctuary to pirates for centuries, the cliffs now provide sport for a different bunch of brightly clothed international visitors. With over 200 routes, many of them accessible immediately from the road, Omis has transformed itself into a sports climbing paradise.
The campsite isn’t bad either, Autocamp Lisicina nestles in a small hollow, surrounded by rock walls, and only 10 minutes walk from much of the cragging.
