We’re not great culture vultures – our only previous visit to Tuscany saw us taking in the sites of both Pisa and Florence on the same day (and they’re a couple of hours drive apart! ) However, a couple of days of chilly damp weather can encourage an appetite for culture so we decided to look in on Sienna – Florence’s Gothic rival. Apparently these two great cities slugged it out for much of the 12th to 14th centuries.
Architectural highlights include the very impressive Duomo
… and the Torre del Magnia in the piazza del Campo.
But the best bit of our visit was a fantastic buffet lunch in the cellar beneath an equally fab deli of Morbidi – €12 for 3 courses of all you can eat Italian deliciousness!
