Fiesta de Los Biceps

Rightly celebrated as one of the best routes in Europe, if not the world, I’d climbed Fiesta de Los Biceps about 6 years ago with Bill. At the time, Jake had been so cross I’d had to promise a return visit with him – this was payback time!

The Visera with the trail of chalk just right of the cental arete marking the route

The route is clearly visible from the rifugio, marked by a trail of chalk, just right of the central arete. 9 pitches and about 300m high, the route overhangs continuously for the top two thirds, with the upper few pitches about 15 degrees the wrong side of vertical. The enormous holds do compensate though!

If the rock and scenery aren’t enough, you are entertained by swooping vultures – quite alarming occasionally!
