My self-appointed coach announced that Day 4 of the trip was a rest day. He’s probably right, but it just seems ungrateful not to be climbing when there’s this much rock and it isn’t raining.
Instead we make the 3 hours drive to Riglos, where at least it has the decency to be overcast and damp.
I content myself with a wander up to the vulture viewing area, and am rewarded when it actually opens its doors at 4pm – it has been closed on all my previous visits. It turns out to be a great facility with steerable cctv cameras and huge binoculars for viewing the nesting vultures and their new chicks.
…and also great for scoping out the routes.
