Heading further west we arrive in Motril, and are fully expecting another day or two of grim weather as the cold front passes through – we console ourselves with reports of snow in Calpe as we turn in for the night. By morning, the wind has dropped and there is the occasional chink of blue sky. We scrub plans to head even further south, and instead head to Los Vados, just 10 minutes up the road, and one of the best (and warmest) crags in Andelucia.
We were really impressed – steep slab/ wall climbing on generally positive holds and surprising pockets – 25m pitches, and quite a few similar length extensions providing a monster work-out.
Route of the day was Rolling Stones – a thin 25m 6c+ topped off with a similar length extension, through thuggier terrain, with the whole outing weighing in at 7a/+.
Beautiful colouration of the rock as the sun started to head towards the horizon.
