I had a fun Sunday afternoon at Windgather, courtesy of a call from Bill. John Reppy was visiting from the States, and Bill was temporarily hors de combat in terms of climbing, so would I care to join John for a few routes. It’s not every day you get to show some hospitality to an 86 year old distinguished physicist, so I was only to pleased to help.
Windgather was packed, but only in a friendly, family afternoon at the crag kind of way.
John hadn’t been doing a lot of climbing recently, but ‘class is permanent’ as they say, and he styled up a couple of routes.
The last time we climbed together was on Debauchery at High Tor maybe 15 years ago – hopefully we won’t leave it so long next time!
