After almost a month of barely any climbing, a combination of trying to rest my achilees and having foolishly taken on too much work, I was back on the rock in the Yorkshire Dales. Robin Proctor’s Scar is perhaps the best of the middle grade bolted crags in the area, with interesting splintered rock in a stunning setting above Austwick.
A lovely day for it too, though it does catch all the wind going (and there was plenty – belay jackets were the order of the day).
Half a dozen routes, all in the 6a/+ range apart from The Shield at 6c.
Helen was going well (she hasn’t had a 4 week lay off) and despatched Subterranean Homesick Blues in fine style
and here she is on the Top 50 Wheels On Fire 6a+ and Ab Fab!
Beer o’clock and the garden at The Talbot in Settle is toasty – no hint of the wind that has been buffeting us all day.
Lucky chaps. We were up there walking on Tuesday. Heavy drizzle. Good to hear you still working, must be for interest. Regards, Tom
I got out of practice at saying “no!”, but I’ve restarted the exercise program: Rotate head left, rotate head right, repeat… 😉
