Nafplio – Kondyli

The seaside town of Nafplio is a pretty if touristy spot, full of Venetian architecture and dominated by an impressive hilltop fortress.

We based ourselves at Lefka Beach Camping a few miles to the east – great spot overlooking the sea, simple Taverna and breakfast on the beach. What’s not to like?

The Kondyli crag is just around the corner and in an even prettier spot (not to mention being free!) We took one look and nipped back to check out of the campsite for the following night.

And below you can see the crag on the skyline just above the beach.

The beach does, however, come with an unusual objective danger…

The crag itself is a bit limited, only having ten routes, but these are all good going on great, and it’s in the shade all day and a few metres from a dip in the sea. The three 6a+s are all good (if tough) with Invincible being excellent, and I even managed Stone Rider, a 7a starting up a very smooth groove.

Back to the van to enjoy the sunset and a sundowner

Which just about managed to shed its final rays on the crag
