Dovestones Quarry – looking for the big freeze

Heavy snow and subzero temperatures  over the last few days – it’s certainly wintery, but would there be anything in condition. Andy’s optimism encouraged me and Tom along for the ride, with Doc along as official photographer. The first challenge was to get to the crag, through various construction obstacles

Arriving at the crag we found it disappointingly out of nic – plenty cold enough but too dry for any ice in the cracks or much structure to the turf.

However a closer inspection of Waterfall Climb suggested just enough to climb (if you are as brave as Andy, anyway)

Topping out into brilliant sunshine, it was like entering a different world.

…and as we stomped back to the car we could admire the crag now in the failing sunlight. L
