New Mills Torrs

What a difference a week makes – another Wednesday evening meet on quarried grit, but a world of difference in the weather! From 24C down to about 10C and from blue skies to hailstorms.

Despite the forecast, a bunch of hardy souls from the Rucksack Club and the MUMC turned out, and were rewarded by dry rock and some classic routes – largely thanks to the super steep walls and the built-in umbrella provided by the railway viaduct.

Here’s Bill on Alcove Crack

And Andy on Mather Crack

But the highlight of the evening was introducing Polly and the boys to the delights of climbing outside – quite a baptism of fire (or rather hail!)
