Kyloe (Out)

Not a political protest chant – Kyloe Crag (or Collar Heugh as it is marked on the OS map) is colloquially know as “out” to distinguish it from its near neighbor Kyloe IN the woods. Another thing that’s OUT today is the sun – unbelievable contrast from a few days ago, with belay jackets and thermals consigned to the cupboard; it’s scorchio!

Plenty of classics to enjoy here, like the somewhat prosaicaly named Slab and Wall & Slab and Groove, the more interesting Wilfred Prickles (named after the now defunct gorse bush beneath it

… and on Overhanging Buttress (pictured above) you’ve got the 3* local test piece Coldstream Corner and the gentler Cloister Wall
