Another revisit to a classic crag, Milestone Buttress on the side of Tryffan in the Ogwen Valley was the scene of a multi-pitch adventure very early in Helen’s and my climbing careers. On that occasion we did the Direct Route (great to meet a young team from Durham University enjoying the same route as a first multi pitch lead, more than 30 years later).
We were on The Superdirect, which takes a strong and sometimes intimidating line up the main arête of the Buttress, taking in some very airy climbing on occasionally rather polished holds, before a thrilling finale, hand-traversing the vertical headwall on tiny sharp flakes.
