Bramcrag Quarry

Up to the Lakes and an overnight stop under Skidaw, in a car park used by BG support teams. I hadn’t been anywhere near the BG route in the two years since my successful round, and I was so inspired a went for a wee jog up Skidaw,  just in time to catch sunset over Derwent water

…and a very atmospheric summit

The next day dawned rainy and we didn’t have great expectations of any climbing, so went to explore the Lake District’s newest, and perhaps currently most popular crag. Bram Crag is a granite quarry, up to 30m high in places, and with about 120 routes. The climbing is intricate, with great friction, and is surprisingly good.

…so much so that we went back 3 days later for another blast – it’s especially well suited to a day with a dodgy forecast and after heavy rain – near the road, and quick drying.
